As a result, a ‘pouch-like’ belly remains after delivery and this problem tends to worsen from the second pregnancy onwards. Therefore, it is important that the new mum adopts an exercise regime as soon as the body recuperates and clearance is given by the doctor.

Note: If the new mummy went through a natural delivery, postnatal yoga is appropriate for her from about four to six weeks onwards post-partum. However, if the new mummy went through a Caesarian section, she will need to wait slightly longer before beginning postnatal yoga. In any case, please consult your doctor before starting the class.
